An Auckland man is to undergo psychiatric testing after running down a woman outside a central city church last Sunday.
The woman, 57 year old Gwen Roberts, suffered serious injuries when she was struck while having a cigarette just after a service at the Methodist City Mission on Queen Street, Auckland. Read more

New Zealand’s two top male gymnasts, Mark Holyoake and Daniel Good, are starting their build-up to qualify for the Beijing Olympics in 2008 - albeit a little later than most other sports.
Both gymnasts are training approximately 30 hours a week at Tri Star Gymnastics club in Mount Roskill, to ready themselves for the challenge of international competition.

Bus passengers in Auckland City could find themselves under ‘Big Brother’ type observation if a new surveillance scheme currently under trial by Stagecoach goes ahead.
The bus company, which services most of the city’s bus routes, is trying out two different camera systems on four of their buses to increase security for passengers and drivers.

My boyfriend though it would be funny to bid $300 on a Trade Me auction to spend a night with newspaper columnist Bridget Saunders. But the joke backfired. He won the auction, and a date was set.
My other half, Grant, won the auction last Wednesday evening, and by the weekend Bridget had given him a call and proposed a Monday night date.
