Congratulations: You’re nearly there!
by Angela Beswick
At 2 o’clock this Thursday afternoon I will be sitting in my last class EVER in the Bachelor of Communication Studies.
Scary thought, next week is the beginning of the next chapter of my life.
As long as we manage to pass all of our final assignments, by March next year we will all be graduates!
While I’m excited to finally be released into the big wide world after three years of studying, I am somewhat ashamed to admit that I haven’t even thought about looking for a job in the television industry (my chosen major) yet.
I plan to take a good six months to bask in the great feeling that I have accomplished what I set out to achieve - I will actually have a degree.
After that, who knows?
Surely I can’t be the only one who hasn’t given thought to the world outside of the university doors and the WT lifts?
I asked around and found that I wasn’t the only one who was looking forward to taking some time out to relax; although many others seem to have a little more direction than me.
Radio major Lisa Thompson says she plans to work part time at George FM, so that she can take some time out to chill and relax. And after graduation? “Hopefully I’ll be working full time at George,” she says.
“I’m just glad I’ll finally be in charge of how I spend my days!”
Television major Gabby Buchanan can’t wait to take a break after 16 years of education. “I want to get my head around what I’ve done, and where I’m going,” she says.
We have all dedicated ourselves to one mutual goal for three years and come so far.
Congratulations guys, we’re almost there!
