The Prime Minister accepted David Benson-Popes resignation from all portfolio positions this morning, saying he had lost a lot of credibility following the Setchell affair.
“I regret that this has happened, because Mr Benson-Pope has been a capable and hard working minister. Issues this week, however, leave no alternative,” Helen Clark said.Benson-Pope said he was leaving with regret and believed he had done nothing wrong.
The Prime Minister says the issue of him continuing as an MP is for him and his electorate office to decide.
