My boyfriend though it would be funny to bid $300 on a Trade Me auction to spend a night with newspaper columnist Bridget Saunders. But the joke backfired. He won the auction, and a date was set.

My other half, Grant, won the auction last Wednesday evening, and by the weekend Bridget had given him a call and proposed a Monday night date.

Goodnight Kiwi set to return

There aren’t many jobs that reward you for getting into fights, driving too fast and shooting at people - but actor Will Wallace has found one.

Playing an angry cop has earned him a nomination for best supporting actor at next week’s Air New Zealand Screen Awards.

Wallace worked out, drank protein shakes and put on 5kg to play Tom Bowden, the most troubled member of the fictional covert border security unit in Kiwi-made drama Orange Roughies.

Lately it feels like all hear around me are words like “blog”, “chunking” and the “Web 2.0″.

While these terms may be unfamiliar to luddites and those of a certain age, they are fast becoming part of everyday language.

Many of you reading this probably spend a lot of time on the internet, and believe that anyone who does not is from the dark ages. I, however, am a member of ‘Generation Y’ and I do not even have a MySpace page (even John Howard has one).
