DUSK arrives at Coherent

This Friday DJ Shaveer will be playing his first gig at Coherent on K’Rd, as part of the ‘Dusk’ event.

Supported by a line-up consisting of Grant Marshall, Bevan Keys, The Disko Divas, Sample Gee, and Karn Hall, Shaveer hopes the gig he has funded, organised and publicised himself, will get Coherent packed with as many guys, girls, and smiling faces as possible.

Shaveer believes his music would fall into the ‘house’ category, however he doesn’t like to “jail” himself into a genre, and says: “It depends on the mood and what’s right for that moment, but I love fun and driving house music that’s meant for the party and club with a little underground twist.”

Shaveer says he loves that fact that he can’t give his music a defined genre because it lets the sound speak for itself. He adds, “Isn’t something you aren’t able to describe in words usually something really good?”

Of the event itself, Shaveer says he is unsure exactly what to expect, but simply hopes that those who come along will enjoy his music. “The energy’s going to be great, I really feel it,” he said.

When asked how he got such a great line-up of DJs behind him, Shaveer said, “I think they deal with a huge set of people everyday who might offer them excellent money, or the best time slot of the night, or people who have crazy marketing ideas. With music and the industry going in such wild and competitive directions, I just figured my stability and maturity when sharing my vision to them would do the talking.”

It certainly worked, and Shaveer points out that at the end of the day, while the majority of these DJs shared his genuine passion, he booked them because “they are all really good people”.

Tickets for ‘Dusk’ are available from Real Groovy and Route 66 for $10, or $15 per head at the door on Friday night.

Should ‘Dusk’ be a success, it could be the start of big things for Shaveer in the music industry. However he says he will know he has accomplished something big when he gets “that funny feeling/vibe in my chest which says “Life is so good”.
