dusk-arrives-at-coherent

by Angela Beswick

This Friday DJ Shaveer will be playing his first gig at Coherent on K’Rd, as part of the ‘Dusk’ event.

Supported by a line-up consisting of Grant Marshall, Bevan Keys, The Disko Divas, Sample Gee, and Karn Hall, Shaveer hopes the gig he has funded, organised and publicised himself, will get Coherent packed with as many guys, girls, and smiling faces as possible.

Shaveer believes his music would fall into the ‘house’ category, however he doesn’t like to “jail” himself Read more

Scalp this, you leeches

scalp-this-you-leeches

ticketsby Daniel Satherley

Luckily for me, discrimination against one particular scourge on modern society isn’t protected by law - those evil children of supply and demand colloquially known as ticket scalpers.

How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways… Read more

Odessa: here to stay

odessa-here-to-stay

by Michelle King

My first experience of the 70’s, garage style, pop-rock band, Odessa was in an overcrowded, sweaty, backroom bar in Auckland three years ago.

A New World of checkout operators

a-new-world-of-checkout-operators

by Jaheb Barnett

New checkout lanes in New World have been launched as part of an initiative to help save people time and, ultimately, the  supermarket some money.

The catch is that the checkout lanes are operated by you.

It’s self service. No nice looking checkout assistants with those designer green shirts, it’s just you and whatever you’re wearing. Read more

November 4th, 2008. Mark your calendars…

november-4th-2008-mark-your-calendars%e2%80%a6

by Matt Critton

…because I, as well as everyone else in this world who gives a damn, will be waking up with the hope that old St. Nick left the shiniest new bicycle under the Christmas tree.

But, don’t lost any sleep, and forget the euphoric dreams of sugar plumb ferries, because we will all be waking up to stockings filled with coal.

With presidential elections in America just over a year away the light at the end of the tunnel is beginning to shine…

Wrong. Read more
