Run for cover, crazes have hit!
Remember when knuckle bones, chatter rings, and hula hoops were cool?
I was listening to the radio the other day and they were talking about what’s been the biggest craze for 2007.
Read on for the top predictions…
1. Texas Hold ‘Em Poker
If you have never played poker, most likely someone you know has.
US blogger C Bloom reports: “Gambling in general has grown rapidly in recent years, as much as 20% annually, to a total US revenue of $47.3 billion in 2004.”
TV has helped boost the card game craze popularity. The ‘World Poker Tour’ and ESPN’s ‘World Series of Poker’ coverage since 2003 has enticed many into playing this card game.
Online casinos have also made it easy to find poker games anywhere at any time.
2. Celebrity Rehab
With images of Paris, Lindsay, and Nicole in orange jumpsuits, its not hard to believe the stars would go to resort-like facility called ‘rehab’ after being in jail.
It’s kind of hard to feel sorry for them, with the amount of partying, booze and drugs that they have available on tap.
Fashion magazines report stories such as “Lindsay Lohan getting high in rehab” by allegedly using cleaning products.
These stars live up the image and lifestyle they created when they entered Hollywood at a young age. They can’t and won’t stop until something tragic will happen.
3. Crumping
Tommy the Clown created crumping so youth would say no to drugs and alcohol.
Cliques and ‘families’ have been formed to battle using dance as their weapon.
As a new variation to break dancing, crumping took hold of many youth lifestyles in 2007.
Kids across the globe are lapping up step-by-step DVD’s so they can dance just like their idol, Tommy the Clown.
4. Justin Timberlake & Fergie
Both named MTV ‘Artist of the year’ these candidates turn men and women of all ages into screaming 12-year-olds again.
Hit songs such as Fergie’s Big Girls Don’t Cry and JT’s Summer Love have been thrashed on radio stations everywhere.
No wonder Justin claimed in his acceptance speech at the MTV VMA’s, “I want to challenge MTV right now to play more videos.” Half an hour later, he was named ‘Male Artist of the Year’.
What will be the new craze of 2008? I hope it doesn’t involve Britney Spears…
