Trade me takes on clean green cars

Want to purchase a brand new clean green car but don’t want to leave the house? Trade me has the answer for you.
Trade Me New Zealand’s version of E-bay decided this week to enter the car market, only this time there is a bit of a twist.
The Trade Me motors site previously only sold used cars, bikes and boats.
But now the site has chosen to sell new vehicles and will be providing information on the vehicles environmental impact and safety.
“By providing new car information, side-by-side within Trade Me Motors, consumers have all the information they need to make the best decision on,” said Trade Me founder, Sam Morgan.
Consumers can browse or search by make and model or by vehicle type, comparing 28 different variables including carbon footprint, fuel efficiency and crash test rating.
Providing information on a vehicles carbon footprint is a first in the car market let alone online market.
As well as in-depth environmental and safety information, the new site also provides buyers with car reviews and reliability information.
“We built the site for everyday Kiwis more than for car enthusiasts because everyone seems to need a car, but not everyone wants to be an expert.”
Last year Trade Me sold over 117,000 used cars and they hope to repeat these numbers in the new vehicle market.
