Shopping with your mouse.
by Jaheb Barnett
The way we are finding our bargains these days has changed. Big time.
Online shopping has moved in and kicked out traditional shopping – where you would walk into a store and browse using your legs and whatnot.
Now, in the online world, all you need is a comfy seat. With the click of the mouse you can book flights to anywhere or purchase that pair of radical Kanye West sunglasses he was sporting at the MTV VMA awards.
What ever happened to getting up early on a Saturday morning to attend the local garage sales to sniff out a bargain or two? I guess the internet is what happened.
Garage sales are not as hip as they used to be. Sites like TradeMe and eBay are the new black.
We are increasingly trading in the early morning effort with the ease of typing exactly what we are looking for into a search portal and seeing pages of results before we’ve had the chance to blink three times.
It is instantly obvious to see the appeal of shopping online, the range is extensive, possibilities are almost limitless and you can buy from places you’ve never heard of on the other side of the world.
While walking into a shop or even a mall, you can come out empty handed and dissatisfied.
The online spectacle which continues to spread its popularity gives the shopper more power than ever.
There are no lines to cue in, annoying shopping assistants to deal with or even traveling to get what you want; just a simple click here and there and a few digits from your credit card.
The ‘click sensation’ has bought the world to our doorstep; if only it would make me dinner.
Oh wait, you can order and get that delivered online too!
