What is the world coming to when we not only have to worry about whether people who turn up at our parties are concealing knives, but we may also become a victim of a drive by shooting in an otherwise safe neighborhood?

Police are questioning two young people after two children were shot from a moving vehicle with a slug gun on East Coast Road in Castor Bay last week.

The incident occurred on September 11th at around 3.20 in the afternoon.

A five-year-old boy was seen clutching his head and crying at the pedestrian crossing outside the Shell Service station on East Coast Road. Another girl also appeared to have been struck.

A passing motorist alerted police who found the boys, aged 16 and 18, with a vehicle a short time later.

The young boy seen to have been shot was not located by police patrol cars who arrived a short time later and has still not been tracked down.

Police are eager to speak with him to assess the seriousness of his injuries and ensure he gets appropriate treatment.

The air pistol used in the attacks has since been recovered, but Police also wish to speak with a female jogger who was heading uphill towards Castor Bay road, who also appeared to have been struck.
