Nomination for Kiwi actress

New Zealand actress Rebecca Trelease has been nominated for the best actress award at the B Movie Film Festival in New York which will be held from the 26th to the 28th of October.
Trelease starred as a lead character in the New Zealand feature film Down by the Riverside, and is the only non-American actress to be nominated in this category.
In the film, Trelease is a history student named Amelia who investigates a string of deaths in an old house.
The film, which took two years of hard work to be made, has attracted international attention and has been nominated for best foriegn feature.
Down by the Riverside, written and directed by Marama Killen and Brad Davison was shot in Te Aroha and in the Waikato.
The film is quite unique in contrast to other films in the festival as it was shot in black and white.
The B Movie Film Festival which started in 1999 has awards for independent film makers, lost films, underground cinema to Hollywood classics and big screen favorites.
Trelease started her acting career in 2002 where she has appeared on Shortland Street and roles in short films such as, Killer Worms from Outer Space, White Noise, Clean as a Whistle and The End.
The film will be in video stores around New Zealand in Novemeber and the results of the awards event will be announced late October at the end of the short festival.
