Media industry personalities – including one from Fiji and one from Kiribati – are among participants in a new postgraduate Asia-Pacific Journalism paper – the first at a New Zealand university.
The paper is among a raft of new postgraduate courses being offered by AUT University’s School of Communication Studies in a bid to boost both academic and industry options.
Course leader associate professor David Robie said the new paper was an engaging new option.
“It will give participants an interesting and challenging introduction to the region,” he says.
“But the course will also provide outlets for publication of their stories as well as academic analysis and research.”
Dr Robie says arrangements have been made for several global and NZ media outlets.
Several Asia-Pacific journalists are also contributing as resource people and there are internship opportunities in Beijing and Jakarta.
